Why hello again my fellow beauties,
By reading the title you are probably here because you have the hardest time waking up in the morning. I once had this same problem. I feel your struggle. I would always tell people I could never be a morning person. I grew up in the same room as a teenager and as a result, was trained to sleep in. On Christmas mornings, my brothers and sisters would all sleep in and our parents would have to wake us up! I know you are probably reading this and thinking ‘who cares? tell me your ways!!’ well, I am just putting into perspective how much of a morning person I wasn’t and how if I can change, then you can too.
Step 1: Unplug
I know that this is easier said than done, but one of the main reasons I was never a morning person was because I would stay up super late and naturally would sleep in. So how did I do it? The biggest tip I can give is to shut off your electronics and phone at least 20 minutes before you go to bed. The blue light keeps you up longer and you could be using this time instead to dive into a good book.
Step 2: Make a morning routine
Give yourself a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Make the morning YOUR time. Allow the mornings to be your time to do that facial, exercise, draw, or do whatever it is that you love doing. I started running in the mornings and love taking showers while listening to music. This makes me happy to wake up and actually get out of bed.
Step 3: Change your alarm
Having that annoying alarm ruins your mood and motivation to wake up. Set your alarm to something you actually will want to wake up to, and something that will make you happy. Mine is set to ‘The Real Slim Shady’ by Eminem. Also, if you can, set your alarm to slowly get louder so you aren’t jolted out of a deep sleep.
Step 4: Diffuse energizing essential oils in the morning
Diffusing oils in the morning can boost your mood, clear your mind, and energize you. Try using peppermint or any citrus blends. Step 5: Plan your meal
The last tip that I use to get myself out of bed in the morning is to plan or think about my breakfast the night before. Since I live in residence and they only serve breakfast until a certain time, this in itself is enough motivation to wake me up in the morning (because breakfast food is my favourite food). However, if you plan your breakfast this will make you excited to wake up and enjoy your meal.
